Welcome to Fairhope Yacht Club

Since its founding in 1942, the Fairhope Yacht Club (FYC) has been a home for boating enthusiasts, fostering a culture of camaraderie, sportsmanship, and community. Nestled along the banks of scenic Mobile Bay, our club combines rich traditions and modern facilities to offer unparalleled opportunities for boating, relaxation, and recreation.

Our Facilities

Fairhope Yacht Club boasts a stunning array of amenities for members and visiting guests. Our main clubhouse features a spacious dining room, an elegant ballroom, and a lively bar, providing the perfect place to gather, celebrate, and unwind. Outdoors, our harbor is equipped with 134 wet slips to accommodate boats ranging from 19 to 40 feet, and we offer dry storage for 37 trailered boats. Additionally, our loft storage can house sunfish, kayaks, Optimist prams, and canoes, ensuring that all types of boating enthusiasts are welcome.

For those traveling from reciprocal clubs, we provide open docks for visiting boats, as well as access to conveniences like a pump-out station, a 2-ton and 3-ton boat hoist, and a launching ramp within a calm, protected harbor. A 200-foot pier extends into Mobile Bay, offering members and registered guests breathtaking views and direct access to the water.

Our Story

Fairhope Yacht Club was born from the vision and fellowship of local families who gathered in the late 1930s along the shores of Bayou Volanta. Led by Otto Wadewitz, these friends and neighbors united around their shared love of boating, swimming, and picnicking. In May of 1942, this group made their community official, incorporating the Fairhope Yacht Club with the mission of fostering an enduring passion for all types of boating—sailing, racing, powerboating, and cruising.

Thanks to the generosity of founding families Wadewitz, Godard, and Berglin, land was donated to establish the club. The first clubhouse, a modest clay tile building, was enhanced over the years as the club grew. The adjoining creek was dredged, creating a safe harbor accessible at all times, and infrastructure improvements paved the way for a thriving home for boating enthusiasts.

In 1944, Fairhope Yacht Club joined the prestigious Gulf Yachting Association, further cementing its place as a cornerstone of the yachting community.

Our Mission

Rooted in our founders’ vision, FYC remains dedicated to encouraging the sport of yachting while promoting good fellowship among members. Safety, teamwork, and sportsmanship are at the heart of everything we do, whether on water or land. From hosting regattas and races to leisurely cruises and social events, our club provides a welcoming atmosphere for families and individuals to share their passion for boating.

Join the Tradition

Decades after its founding, Fairhope Yacht Club continues to grow while preserving the traditions our members cherish. By fostering a vibrant community of sailors, boaters, and recreational enthusiasts, FYC has become more than a marina or a clubhouse—it’s a place where lifelong memories are made.
