Racing at FYC

Fairhope Yacht Club has active racing fleets of PHRF, Portsmouth, Catalina 22, Rhodes 19, Flying Scot, Laser Radial, Optimist Prams, Sun Fish and 420s.

Adult Sailing

Members of FYC have available to them the use of several club boats once they are “certified” to use them. Members need not first know how to sail to become “certified”. FYC’s Adult Sailing Coordinator, John Helmstadter, is available for free adult sailing lessons. Contact John for information and an appointment: (956) 495-5147 or helmsail@live.com.

Club Races

Every Sunday from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, weather permitting, there is a Sunday Fun Race which begins at 2:00pm. Racing is around FYC fixed marks.

Juniors Program

A great source of pride at Fairhope Yacht Club is our fast growing Juniors program, designed to introduce young people to the joys of sailing and the thrills of competition. In addition to enhancing their sailing skills by competing in regattas along the Coast, there are many activities enjoyed by our Juniors throughout the year. Please visit the FYC Juniors page to learn more about Junior activities. You may also download an application to the FYC Junior Yacht Club.

Summer Sailing Lessons

Each summer lessons are offered to the children of family and friends of FYC members. Each session consists of two weeks of instruction in boat handling, racing rules and the spirit of competition, taught by certified sailing instructors. Visit FYC Junior Yacht Club for more information.
